info for beginner From: Trey 2006/07/31 ( Mon) - 14:09 JST

Hello. Just wondering if this would be a good dojo for a beginner to start aikido training? Importantly, is any instruction in English? Thanks in advance for your help!

[10.88.138.210.bf.2iij.net]

RE:info From: Fred 2006/08/09 ( Wed) - 23:09 JST

Hi Trey,Ueda-sensei understands a bit of English and there are quite a fewpeople around in the dojo who can assist in English. But you will understand that basically the shihan in Japan teachaikido in the Japanese language and gradually you will need tounderstand and remember the terminology used in Aikido (aikido no kotoba) to be able to pass exams.Just have a try and visit 1 of the dojo's if you like, you are always welcome.best rgds,Fred

Hi, I am currently living in Koishikawa, Bunkyo-ku. I was pleased to find this website, as I am planning on resuming my Aikido training in Japan. I have studied Iwama-ryu Aikido in Australia, and have attained the rank of 4th kyu. I am planning on dropping by the Koishikawa dojo on Thursday soon (im working too hard right now), however my Japanese skills are not very good. Is there anyone who can explain the membership process in english?thanksRobbie
